You can have everything MARKA holds about you deleted, at any time, without giving a reason. There are two ways to do it: from inside your account, or by emailing us. Both are set out below.
This is the fastest route and it takes effect immediately.
Your account is closed and you are signed out straight away. You do not need to contact us afterwards.
If you have lost access to your account — a changed email address, a lost password you cannot reset, or an account someone else set up for you — email info@akiradigital.co.za with the subject line Delete my data.
Tell us the email address the account was registered under. We may ask one or two questions to confirm the account is yours before we delete anything — that check protects you, since we cannot undo a deletion made by the wrong person. We will confirm in writing once it is done.
Deleting your account removes the personal information we hold about you, including:
Deletion is permanent. We cannot restore an account or its contents once it has been removed, so export anything you want to keep before you start.
Posts already published to Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn stay on those platforms. They live on the platform, not in MARKA, and only you can remove them — from the platform itself. Disconnecting or deleting your MARKA account does not take down anything already posted.
Removing your MARKA account also does not delete your Facebook, Instagram or LinkedIn account. It only ends MARKA's access to them. You can revoke that access separately at any time in each platform's own settings.
Your data is removed from our live systems immediately when you delete your account, and from backups within 30 days. The same 30-day window applies to requests made by email, measured from when we have confirmed the account is yours. This matches section 6 of our Privacy Policy.
If you have ever paid for MARKA, South African tax law requires us to keep financial records — invoices and proof of payment — for five years. We cannot delete those within the 30-day window, and neither can you ask us to; the obligation is not ours to waive.
Those records are kept only for that purpose. They are not used for marketing, they are not used to rebuild your profile, and they are deleted once the five years have run. If you never paid for MARKA, there is nothing in this category and everything goes.
For anything about this process, or to check on a request you have already made, contact our Information Officer at info@akiradigital.co.za.
